Mrs Toman

November 18, 2014  The Sunday newspaper said that we lost Mrs. Emma Toman.  She was our 1st grade teacher at Vaughn school. She taught in many schools in the area but she was the roots to our education in Vaughn. A swift smack of the ruler would bring you back to attention.  I remember learning the Pledge of Allegiance from her. She passed away at 90 years old. I remember thinking she was old....  now from my perspective of 50+ years - she was considerable young when she taught us in 1st grade ( about 48).        Go with God courageous lady!

Everyone sitting around visiting  - looking at yearbooks.
Man did some stories really fly and we had some great laughs!

Barbie, Bill Busche, Flint and his girlfriend Sharon. Nice mug Flint - I'm sure there was soda in it!

Lola's husband Steve walked the parade route on stilts -
they are helping with the Miller for Governor campaign.

This is a throw blanket that they were selling, done using the historcal sites in the valley.
Simms High School, the Adams barn near SunRiver, Square Butte, Vaughn Drive Inn, the stone store in Vaughn, a church, SunRiver School and a grain elveator, and Fort Shaw

We had a great time visiting and catchin up this weekend. Several of us stayed and helped roll up the sidewalks and turn out the lights ... after the street dance was over! It was so great to visit with people that we haven't seen in a while. The class of 1981 was celebrating 30 years - that was my brother Rogers class. Seeing people like Bruce Lee, who comes home every year from Alaska just for Simms days makes me think more people need to get out of thier "little box" and enjoy the friendships that we made so long ago. The playing field is more level now. There are no clicks, no classes, no jocks, no cheerleaders, no nerds or nobodies - we are all adults that have been down some rough roads. We have all made it to this point, learned from our past and appreciate the roots we got at Simms.

We missed those that weren't there. Please try make it to Simms next years - same time same place - (2nd weekend in August!!)  Please feel free to e-mail me picture if you would like them added to this blog site!
